What is the Wilderness Tractor Ride?

The Wilderness Tractor Ride is a three day event starting at Twin Lakes State Park located halfway between Houghton and Ontonagon, MI in the western Upper Peninsula. Day 1: Fri (Sep 22) consists of registration, a show and swap meet. Day 2 & 3: Sat & Sun (Sep 23 & 24) consists of the two day tractor ride. Both days will start at 9 A.M. Eastern Time. We will leave Day 2: 9 A.M. Leave Twin Lakes State Park, MI on the Nichols Trail south. Lunch at the picturesque three railroad trestles over the Firesteel River. Our route will include the Caledonia Trail, a tractor parade through Greenland and/or Mass City and Rockland. The final segment is on paved road to Old Victoria, a historic mining town close to Rockland, MI which is in the process of restoration. Three large areas will be set up for camping. Day 3: 9 A.M. Breakfast and then leave Old Victoria and head north and back to Twin Lakes State Park. The ride is a very unique event. The tractors will go approximately 30 miles each day with a top speed of 6 MPH. The majority of the ride is on gravel trails with only a small portion of paved road. Riders should be as self suffient as possible. This includes: layered clothing, rain gear, tent and sleeping gear, walkie talkies, cell phones, any tools and repair parts they may need for their tractor. The sponsors of the ride will have a maintence package along with common items i.e. spark plugs etc. based on the information provided on the registration forms. Wonderful time
Fred and all, Thank you so much for the excellent time on the Wilderness Tractor Ride. Can't wait till the next one. I still don't own a tractor but still want to go as a passenger on a wagon. My wife and son, daughter and boyfriend also enjoyed the ride and want to again as well. Let me know if I can be of some help with getting the word out to other folks who would enjoy this as well. Thanks again. Gale Eilola

great time to be had, don't miss it
Had a wonderful time and met new folks as well as seeing some that I haven't talked to in some time. Meals were spectacular, scenery is absolutely beautiful, enjoyed being part of the support team and am coming back for 2007. Hope to see everyone there as well as some new faces. Harold Brunton
